Wednesday, July 07, 2021: Food Truck

St. John's UCC will join the Sudanese Grace Episcopal Church to distribute food at our mobile food pantry.  Some of our consistent volunteers will be absent , this could be a great opportunity to volunteer and bring a friend!  Distribution boxes will no longer be prepackaged, so volunteers will gather at 5:00 PM to set up work stations, unload groceries, pack boxes, direct traffic, register clients, teardown work stations and to deliver surplus groceries to local missions.  Distribution starts at 6:00 PM. Feel free to call Teresa Markoski for further information at 616-690-4566 or contact at tmarkoski2004@yahoo.com. Donations are welcome by selecting Food Truck on the Church App or by mailing a check to St. John's UCC , 1934 Bridge Street NW, Grand Rapids, MI, 49504.  Many hands make light work.  Thank you !

Sunday Bible Study Takes Break Through July

Our Sunday morning Bible Study, which normally meets at 9 am by Zoom, will be on hiatus during the month of July.

It will resume on Sunday, August 1, at 8:45 am in-person outdoors at church.

We will continue to publish the weekly Bible Study on our website for those who wish to use it.

For more information, please contact Bill Newsom.

Outdoor In-Person Worship begins this week

With the blessing of our church Council, the Pandemic Task Force, Worship Team, Membership Team, and Property Team are making plans to resume in-person worship outdoors next Sunday, July 4 at 10 am at church. We will continue livestreaming the service for those not yet ready to return to in-person services.

Masks will be required for those who attend in-person, regardless of vaccination status, as a way of keeping the most vulnerable among us safe. (Remember, those under 12 cannot yet be vaccinated and are increasingly more vulnerable to the disease, as are those who could not be vaccinated for health reasons and those who have certain preexisting conditions.)

Participants are asked to bring their favorite folding chair, sunscreen, and an umbrella (in case of inclement weather). Holy Communion will be offered using prepackaged elements.

We will not immediately resume offering refreshments after service, but plan to do so as we become more comfortable.

If all goes well, we will continue with outdoor services through July and August and hope to return to in-person worship in the sanctuary around September 12. These plans are tentative and we ask for your patience and flexibility as we move forward with our regathering process.
