We are excited to gather as a church family. We are blessed to share our time and talent. We are encouraged to invite our friends. Let's make the season bright together!
St. John's Food Truck: Wednesday, December 7: Volunteers report to the church at 5:15pm. We begin checking in our guests at 5:30pm. We serve free groceries from 6-7pm. You are welcome to come and help with any of our Food Truck tasks: unloading the truck, stacking food on tables in the Narthex, carrying groceries, standing behind a table and serving the line of guests, communicating with guests in the sanctuary as they wait, or cleaning up (wiping tables, vacuuming, etc.) This event happens on the first Wednesday of every month. Members and non-members are welcome to serve with us.
St. John's Caroling Party: Sunday, December 11: After our 10am worship service, you are invited to take the sounds of the season on the road with us as we sing for local veterans and members that can no longer attend services (our shut-ins) at 11am.
Party With A Vet: Tuesday, December 13: Volunteers for this ongoing outreach event are welcome. We will be meeting in the lobby of the Grand Rapids Home For Veterans (Location: 2 North Wing, 3000 Monroe Ave, NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49505). Help us celebrate veterans and pass out holiday gift bags at 11am. If you would like to donate snack-sized items for the gift bags, they are located on a table in Fellowship Hall.
Young At Heart: Wednesday, December 14: This St. John's group will meet at 11:30am at Diana DeKorte's home for a holiday gathering. Please contact the church office for address information. (616) 453-2497.
Youth Sunday: December 18: St. John's youth will lead our worship service on the 18th. Acolytes, greeters, ushers, singing, and images of them dressed as angels, shepherds, and the Nativity on the sanctuary screens as we hear our youth tell the story of the birth of Jesus. Rehearsals & costume photos, all ages, are on Sunday, Dec. 4 and Dec. 11. Contact: Sue Bradford 616-450-7814 after 6pm, or email the church to sign up for a reading part: office@StJohnsUCCgr.org.
Christmas Eve Service: Saturday, December 24: All are welcome to gather in the sanctuary with us at 7pm for our annual St. John's UCC Christmas Eve Service.
Casual Christmas Day: Sunday, December 25: Come as you are for this casual 10am Christmas morning worship service. Bring the kids in pajamas if you wish. All are welcome.

St. John's Giving Tree: Donations may be placed on the tree in Fellowship Hall.
Kids Food Basket: Donations may be placed in the Narthex entry to the sanctuary.
