Join Us for a Different Kind of Lent

Let us recall the mystery of our faith: Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again!

Lent is the season (Feb. 18 - Apr. 4, 2015) which invites us to join Jesus in the first of these deep truths: choosing to die to self so that we might live with him.

But what is we've gotten this die to self thing all wrong? What is it's not about sin but about naming those things about which we are considering a change of mind, those things toward which we hope to turn our lives, those qualities of character we long to embrace as we become more like Jesus. This is the challenge of repentance.

By feasting on Scripture, immersing ourselves in prayer, and fasting, we open ourselves to the 8 Keys for Well-being Jesus teaches us that nurture and nourish the kind of repentance that "turns not so much away, as toward," and leaves us "surprised to find that sin is not so bad as it is a waste of time."

Meaningful worship gatherings are a hallmark of the spiritual season of Lent at St. John's United Church of Christ. Come and experience God's love, healing, and hope! Schedule

Let us live the presence of God as we journey through Lent together.
