Today at 5:00 PM: Mobile Food Pantry

April Showers brings...the April 2, 2025, Feeding America West Michigan Mobile Food Pantry sponsored by St. John's UCC in partnership with Sudanese Grace Episcopal Church at 1500 Oswego NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49504.  Volunteers will gather at 5:00pm. distribution begins at 6:00 pm.   Last month, we distributed food to 120 families, 397 individuals, 138 children, 75 seniors, and 8 veterans.   A total of 29 volunteers lifted 4 pallets of watermelon into trunks of cars and divided up carrots and apples that arrived onsite in bulk. The menu included macaroni, yogurt, potatoes, milk and Pop Tarts.  The total weight of food delivered was 9,902 pounds.  Many hands make light work. Volunteers play a crucial role in the work to increase food access to our neighbors, we couldn't do this without you.  Students Joey Little and Faith Thompson were new to our volunteer crew. Thank you all so much! Richard Johnston delivered a carful of surplus food to UCOM.  Surplus Pop Tarts were delivered to the residents at Grandview Apartments and were much appreciated.  For more information about the Mobile Food Pantry, feel free to call Teresa Markoski at 616-690-4566 or contact at tmarkoski2004@yahoo.com.  Financial support is always welcome by donating on the church app or by writing a personal check to St. John's United Church of Christ at 1934 Bridge Street, Grand Rapids, MI, 49504.  Together, we serve.

March 30, 2025: One Great Hour of Sharing

On March 30, 2025 we will collect the special offering for One Great Hour of Sharing. It supports partners worldwide with ministries that fund health, education and agricultural development, emergency relief, refugee ministries, and both international and domestic disaster response.

When you give to One Great Hour of Sharing, you are light for people in need. You offer light when disasters strike, and when chronic conditions threaten families and communities. You are light not just in the immediate future, but also for the long haul. When you give, you restore not only structures, but also transform lives. Your gift ensures that no matter how difficult the situation, light shines.

Be the light. Give to One Great Hour of Sharing.

You can donate to One Great Hour of Sharing by selecting "One Great Hour" when donating online or by writing "One Great Hour of Sharing" on your check memo area or envelope with your regular offering.

Save the Date for Holy Week

Dear St. John’s Family,

This has been a heavy season. With so much injustice and uncertainty in the world, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. But one of the best ways to combat despair is through community—through coming together in faith, love, and action.

Holy Week invites us into a time of reflection, renewal, and resurrection. At St. John’s UCC, we believe in a faith that embraces everyone—no exceptions. Whether you’re seeking connection, healing, or simply a place to belong, we hope you’ll join us in walking this sacred journey together.

Experience Holy Week with us! Save the date for the following:

🌿 Palm Sunday | April 13, 2025 | In-Person & Online
Wave your palms and join us as we remember Jesus' entry into Jerusalem.

🍞 Maundy Thursday - Living Last Supper | April 17, 2025 | 6:30 PM | In-Person
Join us for a simple soup supper followed by a powerful portrayal of the Last Supper, bringing da Vinci’s iconic scene to life with live actors and narration.

✝️ Easter Sunday | April 20, 2025 | 10:00 AM | In-Person & Online
Celebrate resurrection and renewal with an uplifting Easter service, followed by food and fellowship.

🥚 Easter Egg Hunt | April 20, 2025 | After Easter Service
A joyful event for kids to search for eggs and trade them for candy and prizes!

This season, we invite you to:

✨ Show up for yourself and your community.
✨ Invite a friend to experience the joy of St. John’s.
✨ Find renewal in a space that welcomes and uplifts you.

Holy Week is a time to be present for each other. Whether you’re feeling strong or need a little extra support, know that you are not alone. Let’s walk this journey together—we can’t wait to celebrate with you! ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🤎🖤
