Join Us: Worship
Through scripture, songs and hymns, prayer, meditation, audio visuals, sermons, instrumental and choral music, liturgical theater and dance, our worship services offer many different ways to connect with and experience God. Lots of people play a part in making Sunday mornings a meaningful experience. Whoever you are and wherever you are on life's journey, you are welcome to worship at St. John's United Church of Christ.
Children in Worship
At St. John's, children worship with their families. During the church service children come to the front of the sanctuary for a short message. After church they go to their classrooms for age-appropriate learning.
To help occupy young minds and hands, St. John’s offers “Worship in a Bag” kits to use during the parts of a church service that may be hard for them to understand, or that require more quiet sitting than is comfortable for kids. St. John's also offers worship tips for parents and friends of children to help make their experiences in the sanctuary more relaxed and worshipful.
Communion Is Served
The invitation to the Lord's Table is an invitation from Jesus. Whoever you are and wherever you are on life's journey you are welcome at Christ's Table. Click this link to find out more about Communion at St. John's.
Check our calendar to see when communion will be served.
Baptism Is Practiced
St. John's practices the sacrament of baptism, following Christ's command to make disciples of all people, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Find out more about baptism for infants here. For information about baptism for youth and adults, click this link.
Special Worship Gatherings
Throughout the year we gather to worship at special times other than Sundays. Join us for worship when we gather during Lent, Easter, on Christmas Eve, on Family Sundays, and when we host neighboring congregations for worship that involves the whole city.
Music at St. John's
Talented Musicians, Actors, Dancers, and Artists
We love it when talented people share their gifts with those gathered in worship. You can never be sure who will be sharing their talents on Sundays.
Our multigenerational Bell Choir performs for special services throughout the year.
