Wednesday, June 05, 2024: Mobile Food Pantry

Let's work together on June 5, 2024.  St. John's UCC in partnership with Sudanese Grace Episcopal Church will host a Feeding America Mobile Food Pantry at 1550 Oswego NW, Grand Rapids, MI, 49504.  This is an equal opportunity provider.  Last month, we were fortunate to have 21 volunteers to move 7,152 pounds of food.  Food was distributed to 123 households, 411 individuals, 156 children, 103 seniors and 13 veterans.  Todd Krupp and Rick Heath delivered surplus food to UCOM.  Lindsey Kremer registered clients even though it was her son's birthday.  New to the team were Eva and Calvin Little and Rachel and Spencer Hoffman, all who could lift heavy!  For more information about the Mobile Food Pantry, feel free to contact Teresa Markoski at tmarkoski2004@yahoo.com or at 616-690-4566. Good afternoon all

Girlfriends will be meeting on Tuesday May 28th at 6:30p on zoom (link included in this message)

We will be discussing pages to 59 (the start of Brotherly Love). The book is “Invisible lines of connection” by Lawrence Kushner. Hope to see all of you there.

Girlfriends would like to:

  • offer prayers to Jenna on her surgery and recovery.

  • offer prayers and hope to Ellen on her weight loss “struggles”( know the feeling I also struggle with trying to loss weight and to maintain my weight.)

  • offer prayers of answers to health issues and feeling better to Carol.

  • prayers and congratulations to the confirmation class. You are all so awesome.

  • prayers of welcome to Marcus as a new member of St.John’s.

  • continued prayers of healing and recovery to Christine

  • prayers of thanksgiving that Richard is there to help Christine  and for the help of other family members.

  • prayer that we all have a safe, happy and fun Memorial weekend.

Vacation Bible School Sign Ups

Vacation Bible School at St. John's will be July 15-19 from 5:30-8:00pm. A free dinner is included each night.  We will be talking about the Gifts of the Spirit this year and it's sure to be a blast. 8:00—9:00 p.m.—Video lecture and discussion "The Bible Tells Me So" featuring Peter Enns. Dr. Enns is a noted biblical scholar who considers such questions as
What kind of literature is the Bible?
In what sense is it true?
How is it supposed to work for us?
