  • We will keep windows open when possible when people are present

  • We will serve prepackaged communion elements only

  • We recommend increased distancing

Sunday, September 11, 2022: Fall Kick-off and Community Picnic

It's time to kick-off the next year at St. John's! All are welcome!

At the worship service, we will dedicate our teachers and team leaders and children will meet with their new worship center teachers.

After worship, 

  • Enjoy a pulled chicken sandwich potluck picnic on the church lawn (weather permitting). There will also be hamburgers, hotdogs, and vegetarian hamburgers available.

  • Learn about our teams' plans for the next year.

  • There will be a bounce house, parachute, and piΓ±ata for the children!

  • There will be lots of fellowship time and games for adults!

Please plan on attending the fall kick-off and invite your friends. There are many exciting things happening at St. John's!

We will be starting on page 89 in chapter 9 to the beginning of chapter 12, page 113.

Will be looking at the discussion questions on pages 202 to 206.

School Supplies Needed

We are in need of donations of school supplies over the next 3 weeks for the Northwest Food Pantry.

Every family with children gets a bag of school supplies for each child.

Suggested donations:

  • Pencils

  • Colored pencils

  • Glue sticks

  • Notebooks

  • Crayons

  • Tape

  • Erasers

  • Pencil sharpeners

  • Other items

Please bring them to church and give to Pat Partridge during fellowship time.

Today at 5:00 PM: Mobile Food Pantry

Across the country, 80% of Feeding America network food banks report seeing an increased or sustained demand for food assistance over the past few months.  Last month we provided food to 79 households, 267 individuals, 54 seniors, 99 children and 9 veterans.  August 3, 2022 will be the next opportunity to volunteer at the Mobile Food Pantry purchased from Feeding America by St. John's.  The Sudanese Grace Church provides the distribution site and storage space for supplies at 1550 Oswego NW, Grand Rapids, MI, 49504. Volunteers gather at 5;00pm. distribution starts at 6:00pm.  Feel free to contact Teresa Markoski for further information at 616-690-4566 or at tmarkoski2004@yahoo.com.  Financial donations are welcome by selecting Mobile Food Pantry on church app give tab.  Personal checks can be mailed to the St. John's UCC, 1934 bridge Street NW, Grand Rapids, Michigan, 49504. Your support to the Mobile Food Pantry is greatly appreciated.  Together we serve.
