Wednesday, January 06, 2021: Food Truck

The first drive-thru Mobile Food Pantry of the 2021 will take place on January 6.  St. John's UCC, The Sudanese Grace Episcopal Church and The Lake Effect Church will be volunteering together to relieve hunger and to improve food insecurity in Northwest Grand Rapids.  Volunteers are needed at 5:00 pm to unload, organize, pack and distribute 5,000 pounds of produce and groceries purchased through Feeding America West Michigan.  Distribution starts at 6:00 pm.  Masks must be worn by volunteers throughout the entire time of distribution, covering the nose and mouth and secured under the chin.  Gloves will be supplied for handling bulk produce,  Social distancing must be observes at all times.  Clients stay in their cars.   If volunteers are not feeling well, they are encouraged to stay home and take care of themselves. There will be plenty of opportunity to volunteer at a later date. Join us for our Christmas Eve service at 5:30 pm today!

Please join us today at 5:30 pm for our virtual Christmas Eve service
as we celebrate the birth of hope, peace, joy, and love in Jesus Christ!
The service of Word and Sacrament with candlelight
will feature a virtual performance by members of our chancel choir,
video and audio of hymns from last year's in person Christmas eve service,
and a homily reimaging the Nativity story in 2020 in the midst of the pandemic.

The service will be broadcast online.

Join us tonight, Wednesday, December 16, at 7:00 pm via Zoom for a conversation about dealing with depression, grief, and anxiety around the holidays.

Andy Slater, a licensed counselor, will lead the conversation and offer insights into coping strategies.

The virtual event is free and open to everyone!

Help with our mobile Food Pantry today!

St. John’s UCC with join with the Sudanese Grace Episcopal Church and Lake Effect Church today to distribute food through our mobile food pantry to those who are in need in our community.

Volunteers are needed at 5:00 PM today at the Sudanese Grace Episcopal Church to unload the truck and pack boxes.  Drive through only distribution will begin at 6:00 PM and end at 7 PM. We will continue to work outside, so dress warmly!
